The Agile Business Analyst II role within our Data and Analytics team is tailored for an experienced, dynamic individual who excels in managing sophisticated, data-driven project environments. This senior position requires not only advanced competency in agile methodologies but also strong project management skills to oversee complex deliverables involving third-party data and report transformation initiatives.

The ideal candidate will strategically manage the team’s sprint backlog, lead capacity planning, and enhance backlog grooming processes. A critical aspect of this role is the ability to efficiently guide the team’s delivery of projects, maintain high productivity, and ensure exceptional performance across multiple transformation projects. Candidates should demonstrate an expert-level understanding of data analysis, a proactive agile mindset, and the ability to mentor others, fostering a collaborative spirit to deliver high-impact data solutions.

What does your typical day look like?

  • Translate complex data objectives into comprehensive functional specifications for advanced technical development.
  • Oversee agile sprint backlogs with an emphasis on clarity, prioritization, and alignment with strategic project goals, including third-party engagements.
  • Lead capacity planning and workload distribution, optimizing team resources for multiple concurrent projects.
  • Conduct detailed backlog grooming sessions to define requirements, clarify high-level needs, and estimate efforts for critical sprints involving external data transformations.
  • Direct sprint planning meetings, daily stand-ups, and retrospectives, fostering a productive and transparent team environment.
  • Monitor and report on sprint progress, providing strategic insights and actionable recommendations to enhance project outcomes.
  • Maintain rigorous documentation standards for data requirements and manage the codebase in accordance with SDLC standards, ensuring consistency across all project deliverables.
  • Innovate and improve data processes and workflows, maximizing efficiencies and meeting the specific needs of data transformation projects.
  • Act as a project manager and liaison between the Data & Analytics team and other business units, ensuring strategic alignment of goals and integration of efforts.
  • Initiate and lead cross-functional meetings to foster collaboration, drive consensus on project deliverables, and maintain mutual awareness of timelines and dependencies.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive knowledge base documenting best practices, procedures, and guidelines for managing Agile projects, particularly those involving external data sources.
  • Create and regularly update a repository of training materials tailored to support the ongoing development of team members, focusing on both agile and project management practices.
  • Other duties as assigned.

What skills and experience are we looking for?

  • A minimum of a bachelor’s degree in business, Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
  • At least 6 years of progressive experience in a Business Analyst role, with a significant focus on agile methodologies and project management.
  • Certified Scrum Master (CSM) or similar agile certification, with additional credentials in project management (e.g., PMP) highly desirable.
  • Proven track record in managing sprint backlogs, driving agile ceremonies, and leading complex projects involving third-party data transformations and collaborations with other business units.
  • Advanced proficiency in agile project management tools such as Jira, Confluence, or similar platforms.
  • Exceptional communication and facilitation skills, capable of leading and inspiring cross-functional teams.
  • Robust analytical and problem-solving skills with an acute detail-oriented mindset.
  • Proven experience in high-level capacity planning and forecasting in a dynamic, demanding project.
